Ayurveda
What is Ayurveda?
Ayurveda is an ancient form of medicine, over 5000 years old. It has the potential of aiding in multitude of dis eases.
Ayur+veda = "life"+ "science" (Science of life)
The main aim of Ayurveda is to cleanse the body and bring it back in balance of the mind, body and spirit. The body is made of five elements earth, water, fire, air and ether(space).
As they fall out of balance is when our bodies are open to infections and dis eases. Once you find the right balance, you live a optimum life.
The two aims of Ayurveda are -
1. To prolong life and promote health
2. To eradicate disfunction of the body and minimize susceptibility to dis eases.
Namaste.
I am Chef Surbhi.
I have been in the business of cooking for over 20 years and have been working with Indian/Asian cuisine for a long time. I have learned how and what to cook from my mother and my ancestors. My knowledge is the knowledge passed down from generations of learning the benefits of Indian spices and meals. My love and passion is cooking healthy and flavourful foods.

I love the smell of spices. I love how there is poetry in cooking. It's chemistry. Yet cooking is not an exact science. Just like no two painters can paint the exact same scenery alike, I tell all my students, in the same way no two cooks can cook the exact same dish with the same ingredients to the same taste. So do not be surprised if your food looks different than mine at the end of the class.

Fun Fact- Garam masala in Indian spices is close to All Spice in the Western world and has a similar spice in the Middle East called Baharat. Isn't that fascinating?

I was surprised to know that most people who do not eat Indian food regularly, believe Indian food is HOT spicy. That is not true and I want to change that perception. Indian and Ethnic food is flavourful but not necessarily spicy and can be curated to anyone's personal taste and tolerance level of chilis.

Food does not only feed the body but assist in healing the body and soul. It can lead to getting rid to minimizing so many
dis- eases.
My catering services and classes are now focused to creating and curating recipes which are rooted in Indian and other ethnic heritages but are fused with modern twists to make it interesting and adaptable to various palates.
In my endeavour to find healthy recipes and the right formulas based on Ayurveda I have found a number of healthy but also delicious recipes. Cures for normal aches and pains to weight loss or the common cold. I am excited to share my knowledge with the world. I am proud to be a certified Ayurveda practitioner.
